The VSNU's aim in the negotiations was to secure a transition to open access without Dutch academics having to pay double to access articles. The costs of transitioning to open access would be substantially higher with this publisher than what is being currently paid for access, and therefore was unacceptable to the Dutch universities. ("Unizin") to provide its 25 member universities with affordable, high-value, digital learning materials through an Inclusive Access model - automatically giving students easy access to materials on the first day of class. The non-profit Unizin consortium serves nearly 1 million students and is dedicated to improving teaching and learning environments with digital technology. The grant aims to support projects that would not otherwise receive the necessary funding.
