Society for Scholarly Publishing announces keynote speakers for SSP 40th Annual Meeting

The Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) has announced that its keynote speakers for the SSP 40th Annual Meeting to be held May 30-June 1, in Chicago will be Dr. Safiya Umoja Noble and Steve Mirsky. Noble, an assistant professor at the University of Southern California Annenberg School of Communication, will present her address, Toward an Ethic of Social Justice in Information, on May 30. Mirsky will give his address, How Cialdini's Six Principles of Persuasion Can Help Us Transform Scholarly Communication, on May 31.

New Springer Nature report looks at researchers' challenges in sharing data across geographic borders and disciplines

A recent report from Springer Nature reveals strong support for data sharing globally, yet identifies a number of common problems amongst researchers when they endeavour to share their data. However, the report also shows variations between nations and disciplines in the proportion of researchers sharing their data.

American Chemical Society partners with Royal Society of Chemistry and the German Chemical Society to support ChemRxiv

The American Chemical Society (ACS) has announced its partnership with the Royal Society of Chemistry and the German Chemical Society (GDCh) to support the financial and strategic development of ChemRxiv, the premier preprint server for the global chemistry community. This strategic partnership among three of the largest scientific societies in the chemical sciences will enable researchers to rapidly disseminate their findings in a forum that is free and globally accessible.

Remarq now available across journals published by Rockefeller University Press

RedLink has announced that Rockefeller University Press (RUP) is the latest publisher to offer Remarq, a tool for the research and education communities offering collaboration, annotation, commenting, article sharing, and editorial tools, all on the publisher's site and utilising the version of record. Remarq launched earlier this week on the Journal of Cell Biology, the Journal of Experimental Medicine, and the Journal of General Physiology.

The Association of Research Libraries (ARL), the University of Washington Libraries, and the Conference Steering Committee invite paper and poster proposals for the 2018 Library Assessment Conference: Building Effective, Sustainable, Practical Assessment. This seventh biennial conference will be held in Houston, Texas, December 5–7, 2018, and is co-hosted by the University of Houston Libraries and Texas A&M Libraries.
