Nominations for 2018 SSP Emerging Leader Award called for

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2018 Emerging Leader Award, which will be presented at the 40th SSP Annual Meeting, May 30-June 1 in Chicago, IL. Established in February 2012, this award acknowledges the achievements of up-and-coming leaders in scholarly publishing who are demonstrating their potential through outstanding service and contribution.

Elsevier and BUCM collaborate to create new taxonomy for traditional Chinese medicine in Embase

Elsevier, the global information analytics business specialising in science and health, is working with Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM) to create a new taxonomy for traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in Embase, the world's most comprehensive biomedical literature database. During the six-month collaboration, BUCM, one of the first institutions of higher learning on TCM, will review terms and help build a detailed, robust taxonomy to encompass all TCM data in Embase.

Brexit is an opportunity to forge a stronger European Research Area, says new Wellcome report

According to a new report from Wellcome, the European Research Area should be strengthened and broadened as part of the Brexit process, to increase scientific collaboration across member states and associated countries such as the UK, Norway and Switzerland. The Future Partnership Project report, based on consultations with over 200 UK and European scientists and policy makers, lays out the first concrete set of recommendations of how greater scientific collaboration could be achieved after Brexit.
