Taylor & Francis announces new data sharing policies opening up the research lifecycle

Academic publisher Taylor & Francis has introduced a suite of new data sharing policies to drive open scholarship forwards and help the research communities achieve their goals. The new policies range from encouraging data sharing to making data open with a license, offering flexibility while ensuring the needs of different fields and disciplines are met.

New Japanese study finds using UpToDate from Wolters Kluwer helps reduce medical errors, the third-highest cause of death in the US

Wolters Kluwer Health, a global provider of information and point of care solutions for the healthcare industry, has announced that a Japanese study published in the International Journal of Medical Informatics has found a significant association between use of UpToDate clinical decision support (CDS) and reduced diagnostic errors. Physicians who used UpToDate had a significantly lower rate of diagnostic errors compared with a control group without UpToDate (2 percent versus 24 percent).

American Society for Microbiology joins the Initiative for Open Citations

The American Society for Microbiology has joined the Initiative for Open Citations (I4OC). The I4OC is a collaboration between scholarly publishers, researchers, and other interested parties to promote the unrestricted availability of scholarly citation data. It aims to establish a global public web of linked scholarly citation data to enhance the discoverability of published content, explore connections between knowledge fields, and follow the evolution of ideas and scholarly disciplines.
