NFAIS launches Lunch & Learn Virtual Education Series

The National Federation of Advanced Information Services (NFAISTM), a global, nonprofit membership organisation serving the information community, has announced the launch of a virtual program called the NFAIS Lunch & Learn Education Series. As part of this program, NFAIS invites information experts and professionals to submit presentations to speak in one of the scheduled Lunch & Learn webinars beginning in September 2015.

EBSCO and the H. W. Wilson Foundation expand partnership to build an open dissertations database

EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) and the H.W. Wilson Foundation are expanding their partnership with the goal of making searching for electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs) easier and more open. The goal is to create a single portal for ETDs which can be added to university profiles and accessed online at www.opendissertations.com.

SAGE set to publish the Journal of Cerebral Blood Flow & Metabolism

Academic publisher SAGE has announced that it will begin publishing the Journal of Cerebral Blood Flow & Metabolism (JCBFM) in partnership with the International Society for Cerebral Blood Flow & Metabolism (ISCBFM) from January 2016. JCBFM was previously published by Nature Publishing Group.

Dr. Erik R. Swenson to succeed Dr. John B. West as Editor-in-Chief of the journal High Altitude Medicine & Biology

Publisher Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishers has announced that Dr. Erik R. Swenson will assume the role of Editor-in-Chief of the journal High Altitude Medicine & Biology in 2016. Dr. Swenson will succeed Dr. John B. West, who has provided extraordinary leadership for the journal over the last 16 years since its launch in 2000. Dr. West will be stepping down from his role and will remain as Founding Editor.

NISO elects new leadership for 2015-2016

The membership of the National Information Standards Organization (NISO) has elected new leadership for the 2015-2016 term that begins on July 1, 2015. Mike Teets, Executive Director, Strategy, Governance & Architecture at OCLC, who was elected last year and has served as Vice Chair during the current term, will become Chair of NISO for the 2015-16 term.
