NISTEP collaborates with Thomson Reuters to standardise titles of research funders in Web of Science

The National Institute of Science and Technology Policy (NISTEP) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan, and the Intellectual Property and Science business of Thomson Reuters have announced a collaboration to standardise definitions of research funding organisations by analysing and updating funders' acknowledgements within the Web of Science. The creation of unified titles and definitions for funding organisations will ease the burden on researchers and better facilitate relations between funding resources and research outcomes.

Elsevier and Ex Libris collaborate to offer automated updates to subscribed e-content

STM publisher Elsevier has announced an expanded collaboration with library automation services provider Ex Libris. The collaboration will enable mutual customers of Elsevier's ScienceDirect and the Ex Libris Alma® library management solution and SFX® OpenURL link resolver, to benefit from a fully automated workflow that will keep the library full text access levels up to date for both journals and books.

EBSCO Partners with Masaryk University Press, adds more Czech titles to EBSCO eBook offerings

EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) and Masaryk University Press have collaborated to offer more than 80 Czech titles via EBSCO eBooks. The titles from Masaryk University Press will provide libraries with more multidisciplinary Czech titles representing a wide range of fields – including social science, historiography, linguistics and literary science, archaeology, genetics and many others – from highly specialised scientific publications to significant books aimed at the general public.

AAUP 2015 convenes in Denver

The Annual Meeting of the Association of American University Presses (AAUP) has convened in Denver, with more than 650 scholarly publishing professionals in attendance at the Sheraton Downtown Denver. Association for Computing Machinery names Indiana University's Robert Schnabel as executive director and CEO

The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) has named Robert ("Bobby") Schnabel executive director and CEO effective November 1, 2015. Schnabel joins ACM after eight years as professor and dean of the School of Informatics and Computing at Indiana University. As ACM's most senior staff member, Schnabel will work with ACM's volunteer community to provide strategic vision and to develop sustainable business models to ensure ACM's continued worldwide membership, publications and revenue growth.

F1000Research and INCF join forces to create digital, open access community journal

Open science publishing platform F1000Research is working in partnership with the International Neuroinformatics Coordinating Facility (INCF) to create a dedicated, digital, open publishing solution for INCF's members and the expanding neuroinformatics community. The new INCF Community Journal will provide an affordable, open publishing channel to capture research from the INCF Neuroinformatics Congress and workshops.
