Association of Research Libraries expresses support for principles of transparency and openness

The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) has expressed its support for the principles of transparency and openness. The association has joined an effort to reform research and publishing practices. The Transparency and Openness Promotion (TOP) Committee has published the TOP Guidelines, a set of author guidelines that journals can adopt to enhance the transparency of the research they publish.

Elsevier unveils seven Library Information Science Books at ALA Annual Conference & Exhibition

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the publication of seven new library and information science books, including Digital Futures, a co-branded book project with the UK's Jisc; Informed Systems by Mary M. Somerville; and Marketing the 21st Century Library by Debra Lucas-Alfieri. These and four others will be featured in the library information science (LIS) portfolio in Elsevier booth #504 at the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference & Exhibition, June 25-30, in San Francisco.

Springer presents new white paper on Springer Book Archives

STM publisher Springer has released a new white paper on Springer Book Archives (SBA) in partnership with Maverick Publishing Services. The whitepaper 'Reflections on closing the gap in research' tells the story of how the Springer Book Archives came into being and how important titles were rescued from the fragility of a few print copies to become part of the world's largest collection of eBooks.

Ex Libris and EBSCO Information Systems in deal to enable more streamlined journal and ebook acquisition workflows

Library automation services provider Ex Libris Group and EBSCO Information Systems (EBSCO), a library technology, content and services provider have announced an agreement to streamline libraries' acquisition processes and optimise the experience of library patrons who are using Ex Libris solutions to access full-text content hosted on the EBSCOhost platform. The two companies have committed to expanding their collaboration to other areas as well.

IOS Press continues Impact Factor growth

STM publisher IOS Press has announced that its journal Impact Factors continue to increase, according to the 2014 Journal Citation Reports® (JCR) released by Thomson Reuters © 2015. Twenty-five IOS Press journals are currently included in the JCR, with 64 percent of titles showing an increase.

American Psychological Association to index scholarly journal and book collections with ReadCube's Discover service

The American Psychological Association (APA) has announced a partnership with publishing software company ReadCube to index their scholarly journal and book collections with ReadCube's Discover service. All 110 journals comprising the PsycARTICLES database, including several of the most highly cited and leading journals in psychology, along with more than 65,000 books and book chapters from PsycBOOKS have been fully indexed and are searchable across ReadCube's web, desktop, and mobile reading portals.

Research Solutions, Inc. elects John Regazzi to its board of directors
