Elsevier and the Southern Society for Clinical Investigation announce publishing agreement

STM publisher Elsevier has announced that it has been selected by the Southern Society for Clinical Investigation (SSCI) to publish its journal, The American Journal of the Medical Sciences, beginning January 2016. The American Journal of the Medical Sciences (AJMS), founded in 1820, is the 2nd oldest medical journal in the United States.

SAGE launches OA journal Cardiovascular and Thoracic Open

Academic publisher SAGE has launched a new open access journal Cardiovascular and Thoracic Open (CTO). Aimed at surgeons and medical professionals alike, this international, open access, peer-reviewed journal will publish research from around the world pertaining to cardiovascular and thoracic medicine. This OA journal will be available globally, powered by HighWire.

Thieme Chemistry publishes interactive map with authors worldwide

Scientific publisher Thieme Chemistry has announced a new 'Thieme Chemistry Author Map.' The map features Thieme Chemistry authors coming from 46 countries on six continents. Most of them work in Europe, Japan or the USA, for instance at the Max Planck Institute, Harvard University, the University of Tokyo or at well-known pharmaceutical and chemical companies. Researchers from Iceland, French Guinea and South Africa are also represented.

NIH approves strategic vision to transform National Library of Medicine

National Institutes of Health Director Dr. Francis S. Collins approved a federal report that lays out the long-term scientific vision for the NIH's National Library of Medicine (NLM), the world's largest biomedical library. This vision, presented at the 110th meeting of the Advisory Committee to the Director (ACD), calls for NIH to position the NLM as a unifying force in biomedicine that promotes and accelerates knowledge generation, dissemination and understanding in the United States and internationally.

Dr. Joachim Pleil appointed as new Editor-in-Chief for Journal of Breath Research

Dr. Joachim Pleil has been appointed as the new Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Breath Research. Dr. Pleil is a Research Physical Scientist with the Office of Research and Development of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (ORD/EPA). He currently works in the Human Exposure and Atmospheric Sciences Division of the National Exposure Research Laboratory located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.

The 200th Ex Libris Alma implementation goes live at Tennessee Board of Regents Libraries-NorthEast

Library automation solutions Ex Libris Group has announced that the Tennessee Board of Regents Libraries - NorthEast (TBRL-NE), consisting of the libraries of East Tennessee State University (ETSU) and Northeast State Community College (NeSCC), is the 200th customer worldwide to implement the Ex Libris Alma library management service. The libraries selected Alma, along with the Ex Libris Primo discovery and delivery solution, to provide an integrated platform for library resource discovery and library management services delivered via the cloud.
