Association of American Publishers welcomes DOE's plan to expand public access to federally funded research

The Department of Energy (DOE) has announced its plan to implement public access to research funded by the agency, in response to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) directive. This plan will be implemented for grants awarded after October 1, 2014 and will be open to review and change in response to public comment and petition by concerned stakeholders. The Association of American Publishers (AAP) has welcomed the DOE's work to advance public access.

CAS strengthens customer support and marketing with representation in new ACS International office in Beijing

Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS), a division of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the world's authority for chemical information, has announced the addition of dedicated ACS International, Ltd. (ACSI) representatives, located in the new Beijing office, to serve the needs of customers in China. ACSI representatives around the world market and support products from the ACS Publications and CAS divisions, provide customer assistance and training activities, and facilitate Membership services.

Elsevier publishes seven new books on renewable energy

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the publication of seven new books on renewable energy, including Renewable Energy Systems: A Smart Energy Systems Approach to the Choice and Modeling of 100 percent Renewable Solutions by Henrik Lund and Renewable Energy Integration: Practical Management of Variability, Uncertainty, and Flexibility in Power Grids by Lawrence Jones. All of the new books will be featured at this week's World Renewable Energy Congress in London, August 3-8.

APA announces significant content additions to its full-text book database PsycBOOKS

The American Psychological Association has announced significant content additions to its full-text book database PsycBOOKS. Thirty-three new books from the 2014 copyright year have been added as the result of APA eliminating the 12-month embargo previously in place on current titles, plus all current volumes of the rapidly growing APA Handbooks in Psychology® reference book series are now accessible in the PsycBOOKS database.

Dr. Sally Solomon Cohen named Editor-in-Chief of Policy, Politics & Nursing Practice

Academic publisher SAGE recently announced the appointment of Dr. Sally Solomon Cohen as Editor-in-Chief of Policy, Politics & Nursing Practice (PPNP), a quarterly, peer-reviewed journal focusing on nursing and health policy. Cohen succeeds Dr. David M. Keepnews, who served as Editor-in-Chief since 2004. Keepnews will serve as Consulting Editor to PPNP during a transition period.
