Knovel launches Composites as a new subject area

Knovel, provider of a cloud-based application that integrates technical information with analytical and search tools, has announced the launch of Composites as a new subject area. Knovel's Composites subject area offers design, selection, analysis, testing, manufacturing and repair information related to composite materials compiled from a wide range of authoritative sources.

EDS-Koha helps National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research users access library resources in easy and user-friendly way

National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA) in New Zealand launched the EBSCO Discovery ServiceTM API with Koha in April 2014 and is quickly finding success. NIWA sought to implement the EDS API from EBSCO Information Services into their existing Koha – an open source library management system - to minimize change to the library user experience. The integration not only created positive feedback but the library has measured a 10 percent increase in traffic of library resources.

Texas Tech University adopts Ex Libris Alma

Library automation solutions provider Ex Libris Group has announced that Texas Tech University has selected the Ex Libris Alma resource management solution. Replacing a number of Ex Libris systems—including the Aleph integrated library system—Texas Tech will integrate Alma with the library's Ex Libris Primo discovery layer.

SirsiDynix reaches eResource Central agreement with Wheelers

SirsiDynix and Wheelers are working together to bring thousands of eBooks directly to a library's catalogue. Wheelers is one of New Zealand's largest online book suppliers to schools and public libraries and has supplied library services to users across the South Pacific for 40 years. The integration will allow users to search for and download Wheelers' eBook titles through their library's catalogue with the click of a button, streamlining the eResource delivery process.

ARL Diversity Scholars selected for 2014–2016

Members of the ARL Committee on Diversity and Leadership have selected 13 master of library and information science (MLIS) students to participate in the 2014–2016 Initiative to Recruit a Diverse Workforce (IRDW) as ARL Diversity Scholars. Underwritten by ARL member libraries, the Initiative to Recruit a Diverse Workforce offers numerous financial benefits to program participants as well as leadership development.
