Elsevier to publish official journal of the Asian Agricultural and Biological Engineering Association

STM publisher Elsevier has announced that going forward it will publish the official journal of the Asian Agricultural and Biological Engineering Association - Engineering in Agriculture, Environment and Food (EAEF). To this date, seven volumes have been published, which are all available online on ScienceDirect. Articles will appear online directly after acceptance and proofing.

National Library of Medicine unveils MeSH on Demand, a new feature to identify relevant MeSH terms

The National Library of Medicine has announced the launch of MeSH on Demand, a new feature that uses the NLM Medical Text Indexer (MTI) to find MeSH terms. Currently, the MeSH Browser allows for searches of MeSH terms, text-word searches of the Annotation and Scope Note, and searches of various fields for chemicals. These searches assume that users are familiar with MeSH terms and using the MeSH Browser.

New SpringerOpen journal unveils first yearly Best Paper award, sponsored by KACST

The editors of the new open access journal Materials for Renewable and Sustainable Energy have selected the Best Paper among those published in 2013. The winning paper is "Self-standing electrochemical double layer capacitors for operation in severe temperature conditions," by authors Pierre-Louis Taberna and colleagues at the Université Paul Sabatier and at Thales Research and Technology, France. The authors will receive a $5,000 prize alongside this honour.

OCLC names Jeff Jacobs as Chief Information Officer

OCLC, the non-profit computer library service and research organisation, has announced the appointment of Jeff J. Jacobs, an experienced technology executive, as Chief Information Officer. Jacobs comes to OCLC from JPMorgan Chase, where he served as Chief Technology Officer for the digital consumer businesses. He also held the titles of Managing Director and Senior Vice President. He will join OCLC on May 19, and will be based in the Dublin, Ohio, headquarters.
