Nominations now open for 2015 Elsevier Foundation Awards for Early-Career Women Scientists in the developing world

The nomination period for the Elsevier Foundation Awards for Early-Career Women Scientists is now open. The awards annually recognise excellence in research achieved by scientists in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. This year's five regional awards will be selected in the fields of physics and mathematics. Nominations will be accepted from May 15 through October 17, 2014.

University of Liège Library selects Ex Libris Alma

Library automation solutions provider Ex Libris Group has announced that the University of Liège (ULg) in Belgium has selected Ex Libris Alma for its multiple campuses and libraries. Starting in 2006 with the implementation of the Aleph integrated library system and the SFX link-resolver, ULg later added Primo for discovery and delivery. Now, with its decision to join the Early Adopter Programme, ULg becomes the first French-speaking university to move to Alma.

The University of Manitoba has integrated leading plagiarism detection technology iThenticate into their Research Integrity framework, and made the service available to undergraduate and graduate students, researchers and faculty to ensure academic integrity and avoid plagiarism. Developed specifically for the research community, iThenticate compares written works against an extensive database of more than 45 billion web pages and 130 million content items, including restricted-access scholarly works that are typically outside the range of search engines.
