AAP welcomes USTR 2014 Special 301 Report |
The Association of American Publishers, the largest trade association representing the US book and journal publishing industry, has welcomed the release of the US Trade Representative (USTR) 2014 Special 301 Report and the countries listed. AAP expresses concern, however, that the harm stemming from Canada's undefined 'education' as fair dealing exception was not listed among the priority issues requiring deeper bilateral engagement in the Report's section addressing that country. Jisc in deal with scientific journal publishers to provide free trial access to medical and scientific journals |
Jisc has announced an agreement with scientific journal publishers. A year-long pilot will allow staff working across the NHS in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland free trial access to some of the most respected medical and scientific journals so they can read for themselves the latest trials and research. Gale, part of Cengage Learning, has announced the launch of InterLink, a new technology that connects current articles from newspapers, magazines and journals with contextual reference content found within e-books on Gale Virtual Reference Library (GVRL), Gale's e-book platform. InterLink document-level hyperlinking is available free across all Gale InfoTrac periodical products, such as Academic OneFile and General OneFile, with plans to incorporate the technology into other resources. Royal Society of Chemistry responds to Pfizer's proposed takeover of AstraZeneca |
The Royal Society of Chemistry together with members of the Drug Discovery Pathways Group - Society of Biology, Biochemical Society and British Pharmacological Society –has issued a statement in response to news of a possible takeover of UK pharmaceutical firm AstraZeneca by Pfizer.
