PLoS journals now optimised for tablets

PLoS has announced that its journals are now optimised for tablets. In December 2012, PLoS redesigned its journals, and although these journals have always worked on tablets, they are now tailored to suit these devices as part of a continued roll-out of site enhancements.

Elsevier launches Quiz for Science series for universities and institutions in Pakistan

STM Publisher Elsevier has announced the launch of the Quiz for Science series for 30 leading universities and institutions in Pakistan, recognising local research efforts from across the country. Quiz for Science is based on content and information available through ScienceDirect, Elsevier's database of scientific, full-text information.

International Neuroethics in Medicine calls for papers

Open access publisher BioMed Central has announced a cross-journal thematic series which addresses 'International Neuroethics in Clinical Practice: From Bench to Bedside and Beyond'. The series Editors are James Giordano, Editor-in-Chief of Philosophy, Ethics, and Humanities in Medicine, and Dan Stein, guest Editor.

MRS Communications receives first impact factor

Academic publisher Cambridge University Press and Materials Research Society have announced that MRS Communications received its first impact factor (IF) of 1.250, based on just one issue. Also notable - the journal achieved this ranking in its first year of eligibility and within two years of its launch.

NLM collaboration with The Universities at Shady Grove expands to include virtual internships

The Universities at Shady Grove (USG), in partnership with the National Library of Medicine (NLM), will offer five virtual internships to students from the University of Maryland, College Park, College of Information Studies (iSchool), beginning Fall 2013. The virtual internships will span NLM's research and development initiatives and social media outreach.
