Elsevier announces winner of the first Netter Atlas Medical Illustration Contest

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the winner of the first Netter Atlas Medical Illustration Contest. Paul J. Kim, a professional medical illustrator based in Montclair, N.J., was selected by a distinguished panel of judges who chose 10 finalists, with Kim as the grand prize winner.

BMJ announces new international appointments

BMJ has announced that the company has created two new Managing Director posts in India and the US, ahead of planned growth in these two important territories. Anand Ekambaram joins as MD, India, from Educomp where he was President of Smartclass. The appointment of his counterpart in the US will be announced shortly.

Oxford University Press to publish AIBS journal, BioScience, from 2014

Academic publisher Oxford University Press (OUP) has announced that beginning in January 2014 it will be publishing the journal BioScience, from the American Institute of Biological Sciences (AIBS). The journal is subscribed to online and in print by libraries around the world and provided to all AIBS members as a part of regular AIBS dues.

SAGE set to publish The Annals of Pharmacotherapy and The Journal of Pharmacy Technology

Academic publisher SAGE recently purchased two journals long published by Harvey Whitney Books Company - The Annals of Pharmacotherapy and The Journal of Pharmacy Technology. SAGE will begin publishing the journals in September 2013.

LCA submits statement on the role of copyright in innovation to the House Committee

The Library Copyright Alliance (LCA) recently submitted a statement on the role of copyright in innovation to the US House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary. The committee has been conducting a series of hearings on copyright issues as a way to educate members and prepare for reform.

Platts launches Light Houston Sweet assessment to reflect US crude fundamentals

Platts, a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies, Inc., has announced that it will publish a new daily oil price assessment - Platts Light Houston Sweet - that reflects the value of light sweet crude flowing from inland domestic production centers to Houston, Texas. Platts Light Houston Sweet (LHS) is the latest in a series of assessments launched by Platts in response to the significant structural shifts taking place in the US crude market.
