Elsevier and the American College of Cardiology launch new journal - JACC: Heart Failure

STM publisher Elsevier and the American College of Cardiology (ACC) have announced that the American College of Cardiology (ACC) journals' portfolio has been expanded with the launch of JACC: Heart Failure. It is expected that this new journal will better meet the demands and challenges of treating what is now the most rapidly increasing category of cardiac disease. Dr. Christopher O'Connor will serve as Editor-in-Chief of the journal.

Additional Resources from Oxford University Press now searchable via EBSCO Discovery Service

Electronic research databases provider EBSCO Publishing (EBSCO) and Oxford University Press (OUP) have extended their partnership enabling two additional authoritative resources from OUP - University Press Scholarship Online and Oxford Dictionary of National Biography - to be searchable within EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS). OUP is part of a growing list of publishers and other content partners that are taking part in EDS to bring more visibility to their content.

LWW and the American College of Sports Medicine launch seven new exercise science manuals and textbooks

Healthcare publisher Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW) has published seven new editions of their exercise science list in partnership with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). Several titles provide the content students and professionals must master to obtain multiple ACSM certifications, including ACSM Certified Personal Trainer, ACSM Certified Health Fitness Specialist or ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Specialist.

IOP Publishing names Natasha Mellins-Cohen as new Head of Content Management

Non-profit scientific publisher IOP Publishing (IOP) has announced the appointment of Natasha Mellins-Cohen as the new Head of Content Management, effective April 2, 2013. Natasha succeeds Sharon Toop, who retired at the end of 2012 as Head of Production, after 38 years with IOP Publishing.

bepress to preserve Digital Commons ejournals with the CLOCKSS Archive

The CLOCKSS Archive has announced that academic publisher Berkeley Electronic Press (bepress) has entered into an agreement with CLOCKSS to preserve ejournals hosted on bepress Digital Commons publishing repositories. The journals are all participants in the new Digital Commons Publishing Services programme.

NISO publishes maintenance revisions of Dublin Core and SUSHI standards

The US' National Information Standards Organization (NISO) has announced the publication of maintenance revisions of two widely used standards: The Dublin Core Metadata Element Set and The Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative (SUSHI) Protocol. Both standards were revised to make very minor updates.
