Publishers Weekly and O'Reilly Tools of Change collaborate to launch Author (R)evolution Day conference

O'Reilly Media's Tools of Change and Publishers Weekly recently launched a new conference called Author (R)evolution Day aimed at professional authors, content creators, agents and other independent author services providers. This daylong conference-within-a-conference will debut February 12, 2013, during O'Reilly's flagship TOC conference in New York City.

OhioLINK and EBSCO in deal to provide EDS as a shared service to OhioLINK libraries

The Ohio Library and Information Network (OhioLINK) and its Library Advisory Council have announced an agreement with EBSCO Publishing (EBSCO) to provide the EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) as a shared service to OhioLINK libraries. As a result, member-libraries of Ohio's academic library consortium will soon have the option of adding another powerful tool to improve searches patrons make for the information they need.

Apple, publishers settle e-book pricing case with European Commission

Four major publishers and Apple have reportedly settled a case with European antitrust regulators after negotiations began in September, ending an ongoing row over e-book price fixing. The companies have agreed to legally binding conditions that would ease pricing restrictions on Amazon and other e-book sellers.

eLife, a new open-access journal for outstanding advances in life science and biomedicine, reveals a fresh approach to presenting and using scientific content on its new website, http://elife.elifesciences.org. Publishing Technology ends landmark year with new launch

Publishing-specific software solutions provider Publishing Technology plc marked the end of a highly successful year by announcing a major go live for its customer, the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). Developed on Publishing Technology's pub2web platform, the IET's Digital Library has become the organisation's central access point for all of its online content, dating as far back as 1872 and integrating over 185,000 articles and 3,500 videos.
