Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and ISPG in deal for key access to medical content

The Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) and ISPG (Independent Scholarly Publishers Group), a selection of High-Impact Scholarly journals hosted by HighWire Press, have signed a 3 year agreement for access to 37 key medical publications in Mainland China. The Charlesworth Group, ISPG's exclusive agent in the region, helped secure the purchase of ISPG content by CAMS.

Lebanese university gets EU grant for academy-industry research project

Joyce Backus appointed NLM Associate Director for Library Operations

The National Library of Medicine (NLM), a component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), has announced that Joyce Backus has been named NLM Associate Director for Library Operations and a member of the Senior Executive Service, effective December 16, 2012. Online books retailer Amazon.com, Inc. has launched the Brazil Kindle Store with the largest selection of the most popular books. The Brazil Kindle Store offers over 1.4 million books, now available to Brazilian customers priced in Brazilian Reais (R$), including more than 13,000 Portuguese-language books, 49 of 60 Veja best sellers - the most of any digital bookstore - and the most free books in Portuguese.
