Semantico develops global scholarly author registry - ORCID Registry

UK-based online publishing services provider Semantico Ltd has announced that the recently launched ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) Registry was engineered by the company. ORCID recently launched its Registry, where researchers can differentiate themselves by creating a unique personal identifier.

Thomson Reuters expands InCites platform, transforms scientific literature analysis

The IP & Science business of Thomson Reuters shared plans for the future of its InCites analytics platform at two recent user forums, in Europe and Australia, respectively. Attendees were the first to hear that InCites will become the main environment for all Thomson Reuters analytic functionality related to scientific literature, and will include the company's Essential Science Indicators (ESI) offering in 2013.

Elsevier launches new journal - The Journal of the Economics of Ageing

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the launch of a new journal - The Journal of the Economics of Ageing (JEoA). JEoA is an international academic journal that publishes original theoretical and empirical research on the interaction between demographic change and the economy.

ProQuest expands full-text searching of ebrary titles in Summon Discovery service

Information resources and technologies provider ProQuest is boosting the visibility of e-books in library collections by providing for the full text of an additional 400,000 e-books to be discovered and accessed as part of a broad search of library holdings. The initiative to improve e-book visibility began in early 2011 when Serials Solutions pioneered indexing of the contents of the HathiTrust collection in its Summon discovery service.

NPG expands Creative Commons Attribution license options

Scientific publisher Nature Publishing Group (NPG) has introduced the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license on its 19 NPG-owned academic journals. From December 2012, the CC BY license will be available to authors choosing open access publication options in these journals, in addition to the two non-commercial Creative Commons (CC) licenses currently on offer. This follows NPG's introduction of a CC BY license option on Scientific Reports in July 2012.

KWF-Editorial Services (KWF-ES) has announced that it has been selected by (JBJS) to provide editorial services in support of the journal's peer review process. KWF-ES began processing manuscripts for JBJS effective September 10, 2012. KWF-Editorial Services is a contract provider of managing editor services for STM journals.

CRC Press and YBP Library Services sign eBook agreement

CRC Press, a member of the Taylor & Francis Group, has signed a new agreement with YBP Library Services (YBP), the academic division of Baker & Taylor. Under the deal, nearly 8,000 of CRC Press' ebooks will be available for purchase from CRC Press through GOBI3 (Global Online Bibliographic Information), YBP's acquisition and collection management interface.
