EBSCO Publishing releases Humanities Source

Electronic research databases provider EBSCO Publishing (EBSCO) has released Humanities Source, a comprehensive resource for the Humanities field. The bibliographic and full-text database was developed from a merger of high-quality databases from EBSCO Publishing and H.W. Wilson, and includes many unique sources that were never previously available.

Pearson announces Project Blue Sky, a cloud-based content service

Pearson has announced Project Blue Sky, a cloud-based, content service that provides instructors with easy access to Open Educational Resources (OER). Pearson is partnering with Silicon Valley non-profit Gooru, a search engine for learning materials, and will leverage Gooru's powerful search capabilities to build applications that seamlessly integrate high-quality learning resources on the web, including OER, with instructor-created and Pearson content.

National Library of Poland and OCLC in deal to add 1.3 million records to WorldCat

Library information provider OCLC and the National Library of Poland (Biblioteka Narodowa) have signed an agreement to add 1.3 million Polish library records to WorldCat. WorldCat claims to be the world's largest resource for discovery of library materials and increasing the visibility of these collections for researchers around the world.

Seventy two institutions join beta programme for cloud-based learning object repository from Blackboard

Enterprise technology and innovative solutions provider Blackboard Inc. has announced that seventy two institutions have joined the company in a beta programme for xpLor, a cloud-based learning object repository that will be the industry's first to support multiple learning management systems (LMS). The beta is the largest ever offered by Blackboard, and includes the participation of institutions using Blackboard Learn, ANGEL, joule from Moodlerooms and Sakai.
