Elsevier offers entire collection of books and journals to innovators in developing nations via the ARDI programme |
STM publisher Elsevier has announced that it is now offering its entire collection of books and journals on its online platform ScienceDirect, as well as access to its abstracts and citation database Scopus to innovators in 105 countries for free or little cost through the ARDI (Access to Research for Development and Innovation) programme. Elsevier's contributions cover a vast array of scientific subject fields, with ARDI focusing on the use of mathematics, engineering, life sciences and physical sciences content by academic and research centers and government institutions, such as patent offices. ALPSP, P-D-R and STM sign agreement on text and datamining clause |
The ALPSP, STM and the Pharma-Documentation-Ring have signed an agreement to help pharmaceutical companies to better pursue research using text and datamining. The P-D-R sample licence has been updated to grant text and datamining rights to use the content to which the P-D-R members subscribe. More

Scientists, Foundations, Libraries, Universities, and Advocates issue new recommendations to make research freely available |
In response to the growing demand to make research free and available to anyone with a computer and an internet connection, a diverse coalition recently issued new guidelines that could usher in huge advances in the sciences, medicine, and health. The recommendations were developed by leaders of the Open Access movement, which has worked for the past decade to provide the public with unrestricted, free access to scholarly research - much of which is publicly funded.
