Elsevier and Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China launch ISTIC-Elsevier Journal Assessment Research Center

STM publisher Elsevier and Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China (ISTIC) have announced the establishment and opening of the ISTIC-Elsevier Journal Assessment Research Center. Based in Beijing, the mission of the ISTIC-Elsevier Journal Assessment Research Center is to enhance China's opportunities in bibliometric research.

Two high energy physics journals from Springer to participate in SCOAP3

The Sponsoring Consortium for Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics (SCOAP3) has chosen two Springer journals to participate in the initiative. The SCOAP3 consortium aims to convert journals in high energy physics to open access. The two journals are: the Journal of High Energy Physics and the European Physical Journal C.

University of Utah, NPG join Labtiva's pilot for access to single journal articles

Software company Labtiva has launched a pilot programme that seeks to provide libraries and institutions with affordable and instant access to scientific articles in non-subscribed journals. The first participants in the pilot programme, called ReadCube Access, are the University of Utah and Nature Publishing Group.

Northern Caribbean University selects EBSCO Discovery Service to help increase database usage

Electronic research databases provider EBSCO Publishing has announced that the Northern Caribbean University in Jamaica has selected EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) to provide an easy to use and powerful discovery tool that will search the university's entire collection. The discovery solution from EBSCO will be known as SmartQuest and will be used to search all of the University's databases as well as the library's catalogue.

Maney Publishing to deploy Editorial Manager to humanities and social science journals

Academic publisher Maney Publishing has announced that it will be deploying the Editorial Manager (EM) peer review system to some 40 humanities and social science (HSS) publications in the near future. EM is currently available for Maney's entire list of STM journals and interest in using online submission and refereeing has been growing amongst HSS journals for some years.

The Association of Research Libraries has released a free recording of the MINES for Libraries Webcast, held on September 18, 2012. The webcast provides potential and current participants with vital information about the MINES (Measuring the Impact of Networked Electronic Services) for Libraries service, an online, transaction-based survey that collects data on the reasons people use electronic resources and on the demographics of users.

The University of Birmingham goes live with Ex Libris' Primo and Aleph solutions

Ex Libris Group has announced that the University of Birmingham libraries have extended their suite of Ex Libris solutions with the selection of the Primo discovery and delivery solution and the Aleph integrated library system (ILS). The selection of Primo and Aleph was driven by the Library Division's desire to offer users a robust discovery experience supported by a strong ILS that would be capable of managing the libraries' extensive collections.

Elsevier launches new OA journal - NeuroImage: Clinical

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the launch of NeuroImage: Clinical, a new open access journal and sister journal to NeuroImage. The journal provides a vehicle for communicating important advances in the study of abnormal structure-function relationships of the human nervous system based on imaging.

WK Health announces enhancements to Sentri7

Healthcare information provider Wolters Kluwer Health (WK Health) has announced that several new enhancements have been added to Sentri7, a web-based, enterprise-wide electronic surveillance application that helps hospital staff identify at-risk patients. The Sentri7 Pharmacy Module now features integration with Lexicomp drug information to improve patient outcomes at the point-of-care.

Springer in deal to publish book series with British Society for Immunology

EBSCO Publishing and Capita partner to enhance library resource discovery

ICAP in collaboration with NIST, UNH-IOL for conformity assessment programme

OCLC adds Italian public library records to WorldCat

Library information provider OCLC has added the records of a group of more than 100 public libraries in the province of Trento, Italy, to WorldCat. This addition significantly increases the number of Italian language records in what is claimed to be the world's largest database of items held in libraries.

Pearson, a US-based provider of educational content and services, has announced that readers everywhere will now have the opportunity to get early access to important, time-sensitive topics and technologies before the official publication. Available exclusively through Pearson, Early Edition multi-format eBooks (PDF, ePUB, and MOBI) have been through preliminary stages of editing and technical review, but content and presentation are not yet final.
