Association of Arab Universities and Elsevier in deal to host Arab journals on Digital Commons

The Association of Arab Universities and Elsevier, the information analytics business specialising in science and health, have reached an agreement to co-create the Arab Journals Platform, an open electronic network of scholarly journals that will help raise awareness of leading research carried out in the Arab world. The new network will launch in 2019 and will be hosted, managed and published on Digital Commons, Elsevier's professional grade open publishing platform.

Hindawi and Publons partner to improve peer review process

Open access publisher Hindawi and Publons, a peer review platform and part of the Web of Science Group, have announced a new partnership to improve peer review processes. Hindawi has integrated the new reviewer search service, Publons Reviewer Connect, with their peer review management systems, including review.hindawi.com, their recently launched open source peer review system.

eLife in collaboration with Coko launches first release of Libero Reviewer

eLife, in collaboration with the Collaborative Knowledge Foundation (Coko), has launched the first release of Libero Reviewer, an open-source application that will support the organisation's unique editorial process from submission to acceptance. The first release takes the form of a wizard that guides an author through submitting their work for initial assessment by eLife's board of Senior Editors and integrates with the journal's existing peer-review software, eJournalPress (eJPress).

King's College London to use Altmetric Explorer for Institutions in REF2021 preparations

Data science company Altmetric has announced that King's College London will use Altmetric Explorer for Institutions to help prepare the REF2021 submission. The Research Excellence Framework (REF) is the UK's system for assessing the excellence of research in higher education institutions. Altmetric provides evidence of the attention research has received and offers a potential early indication of impact.
