New Institute for Scientific Information report on Plan S poses key questions for the research community

A new report on Plan S from the Institute for Scientific Information, using Web of Science data poses a number of questions for the research community, including funders, publishers and institutions. This is the second report in the Global Research series from the recently relaunched Institute for Scientific Information. The report, 'The Plan S footprint: implications for the scholarly publishing landscape', examines recent patterns of publications funded by Plan S supporters, exploring potential impacts on funders, subjects, countries, publishers, and journals.

ResearchGate and Springer Nature partner to deliver seamless discovery and enhanced reading experience

ResearchGate and Springer Nature are partnering to pioneer innovative access models for scientific content in the rapidly evolving research ecosystem. Full-text articles published in select Nature journals since November 2017 will be rolled out to researchers' ResearchGate profiles starting now and completed by March 7, making it easier to read or download research on or off campus from that moment on.

American Physical Society launches OA journal - Physical Review Research

The American Physical Society (APS) has announced the launch of their fourteenth peer-reviewed journal, Physical Review Research (PRResearch). The title is the fourth fully open-access (OA) journal within the Physical Review suite of journals and will cover the full spectrum of research topics including fundamental and applied, theoretical and experimental, and interdisciplinary and newly emerging areas.

Dr. Alejandro Montenegro-Montero and Dr. Alberto García-Basteiro appointed as new Co-Editors in Chief of Health Science Reports

Dr. Alejandro Montenegro-Montero has been appointed as the Editor in Chief of Health Science Reports, starting in January 2019. Dr. Alberto García-Basteiro has joined him as the Co-Editor in Chief. The new editors follow Dr. Charles Young, who was Editor in Chief since launch, under whose leadership the journal has had a successful initial stage and has maintained a consistent commitment to providing an excellent service to the medical and health science community.

Northwestern University Press joins initiative to diversify academic publishing

The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation awarded a four-year, $1,205,000 grant to the University of Washington Press to support the continued development and expansion of the pipeline program designed to diversify academic publishing by offering apprenticeships in acquisitions departments. This new grant will provide for three annual cycles of editorial fellows at six university presses: Northwestern University Press, the University of Washington Press, the MIT Press, Cornell University Press, the Ohio State University Press and the University of Chicago Press.
