Plan S: HighWire whitepaper explores implementation options publishers are considering

The HighWire community recently came together to identify and explore 14 implementation options for publishers and how they could deliver against the 10 principles as set out by cOAlition S. A whitepaper, published earlier this month, summarises the findings and details the four most preferred options. Jim Longo, VP of Product Leadership & Design at HighWire, considers what those four implementation options mean for publishers from a Product perspective.

Dutch institutions to benefit from increased OA publication

Dutch institutions will benefit from increased open access publication and a growing collection of social science research as the result of a 'read and publish' deal agreed with Emerald for the next two years. Via the SURF consortium, Dutch universities will benefit from open access publication at no additional charge, and a growing collection of research supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Johns Hopkins University Press and Altmetric partner to enhance user experience and boost internal operations

Johns Hopkins University Press (JHUP) has partnered with data science company and alternative metrics provider Altmetric to provide their users and staff with valuable publication attention insights. JHUP plans to integrate the Altmetric Badges for their books and journals hosted on Project MUSE and the JHUP website.

4open announces new partnership with SciencePOD

4open, the multidisciplinary, open access journal that publishes all types of articles, from different fields in natural sciences, technology, and medicine, has announced a new partnership with SciencePOD to make the journal's topical scientific content available to a wider audience. 'Key summaries' is a series of easy to understand free articles aimed at non-experts written by SciencePOD writers.

Cochrane announces relaunch of Cochrane Ireland

Cochrane has announced the recent relaunch of Cochrane Ireland and its establishment as an Associate Centre. The official launch will take place at the upcoming joint Cochrane UK and Cochrane Ireland Symposium in Oxford in March 2019. Cochrane Ireland will be hosted within the newly-established Evidence Synthesis Ireland (ESI), based at the National University of Ireland Galway.
