Elsevier launches new, cloud-based platform, Mendeley Data, to manage entire lifecycle of research data

Elsevier, the information analytics business specialising in science and health, has launched Mendeley Data, a new, cloud-based platform designed to help universities and researchers manage, share and showcase their research data. With Mendeley Data, researchers can safely record and share research data while improving its reuse via publication, while universities can showcase institutional outputs and improve their collaboration rate.

Erasmus University Rotterdam and Digital Science announce new agreement to roll out Dimensions and Altmetric Explorer for Institutions across the institution

Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) and Digital Science have announced a new agreement that will see Dimensions and Altmetric Explorer for Institutions rolled out across the institution. Dimensions is a research information platform that enables users to search and analyze over 128 million research documents. In addition to Dimensions, Altmetric Explorer for Institutions provides in-depth online attention data for over 9 million research outputs.

SAE International introduces Author Accepted Manuscripts to enhance scholarly journals program

SAE International has introduced new Author Accepted Manuscripts as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the organisation's scholarly journals program. A first for the mobility engineering industry and for commercial publishers at large, the Author Accepted Manuscripts initiative grants readers free access to newly submitted research from academia and industry thought leaders, even before it has been copy-edited, for up to a week.

California selects ProQuest for K12

ProQuest has announced that its guided research and learning resources, reference solutions and ebooks will be available this fall to California's 6.2 million school children in the state's 10,000 K12 schools. ProQuest is one of three companies selected as part of California's new state-wide digital educational resources program, which is designed to provide anytime-anywhere access to high-quality authoritative content to educators, students and staff in K12 schools.

River Valley announces two-way integration of its submission system - ReView, with bioRxiv preprint server

Authors of biology and biomedical papers can now choose to submit to a journal directly from bioRxiv, as well as submit to bioRxiv automatically from a journal. The move is the result of a 'two-way' integration of River Valley's ReView platform with bioRxiv's systems. The automated acceptance of papers from bioRxiv (B2J) has already been available in ReView for some time.

Canadian Association of Research Libraries signs San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment

The Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL) has signed on to the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA), which recommends changes in practices by the research community regarding the use of research metrics. Research metrics (or bibliometrics) are a variety of techniques that provide a statistical analysis of publications' use, and which are regularly referred to by the various stakeholders in the scholarly research community for assessing research impact.
