Taylor & Francis and Cambridge University Press join blockchain for peer review project

Academic publisher Taylor & Francis Group and Cambridge University Press have joined a pilot project to test blockchain technologies applications to peer review. Taylor & Francis Group have joined the initiative, announced in March 2018, which focuses on the problems of research reproducibility, recognition of reviewers and the rising burden of the peer-review process.

Springer Nature acquires medical communications service provider Medidact

Springer Nature has announced the acquisition by its Springer Healthcare business of Medidact, part of Van Zuiden Communications - a medical communications agency targeting the Dutch healthcare market. Both companies reached an agreement on April 24, 2018. The acquisition fits perfectly into the strategy of Springer Healthcare Benelux to continue to grow as a provider of scientific communications and services.

Publisher John Wiley and Sons Inc. has launched a comprehensive program to partner with leading content platform providers to make it more affordable and easier for students to purchase their Wiley course materials, as part of their tuition and fees. Wiley Inclusive Access, in partnership with Barnes and Noble College, Follett, Red Shelf and VitalSource enabled campus stores, not only saves students more than 60 percent off the cost of a bound text, but also provides valuable first-day of class access.

Reuters releases top 100 Europe's Most Innovative Universities ranking

Reuters has released its third annual ranking of Europe's Most Innovative Universities in partnership with Clarivate Analytics. The list is based on empirical data including patent filings from Derwent Innovation and research paper citations from the Web of Science. The list identifies and ranks the educational institutions doing the most to advance science, invent new technologies, and help drive the global economy.

Ara Institute of Canterbury goes live with Ex Libris Alma library services platform

Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, has announced that New Zealand's Ara Institute of Canterbury has gone live with the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform, which, together with the Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution, is facilitating the management of Ara's wide range of electronic and physical resources. Ara Institute of Canterbury sought a new cloud-based and future-proofed system that would handle both electronic and physical assets and support the various acquisition methods that the Institute employs.
