New editorials provide updated guidance to authors submitting to the British Journal of Pharmacology

New editorials published in the British Journal of Pharmacology provide guidance for authors of papers submitted to the journal, with guidance on how to design and conduct experiments as well as what key information should be provided in methodology and presentation of data. The aim is to improve replication and provide greater confidence for readers that the research is sound and of high quality. All of the editorials are freely accessible.

RUR Rankings Agency releases 2018 World University Ranking, powered by Web of Science Data

Round University Ranking (RUR) Rankings Agency has published its annual World University Rankings, which evaluates the performance of 761 universities around the world. The ranking methodology is based on three key principles: inclusiveness, balance, and stability. Performance is measured against 20 indicators related to teaching, research, international diversity, and financial sustainability.

Jeff Settleman joins eLife as Senior Editor

eLife has announced that Jeff Settleman, Head of Oncology Research at Calico Life Sciences LLC, has joined the open-access journal as Senior Editor for Cancer Biology. A specialist in molecularly targeted cancer therapeutics and personalised cancer medicine, Settleman will work with other Senior Editors, primarily Charles Sawyers (Memorial Sloan Kettering) and Sean Morrison (UT Southwestern Medical Centre), and a team of Reviewing Editors in the journal's bid to help accelerate discovery within cancer research.

Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation joins Frontiers list of open access funders

The Gates Foundation in line with its open access policy supports its grantees in publishing open access by covering article processing charges (APCs) and co-developing Chronos, a platform supporting the selection of open access publishing options and managing the invoicing of APCs. Frontiers and Chronos have formed a central invoicing agreement for open access publishing.
