Google Science Fair and Scientific American launch third annual Scientific American Science in Action award

Internet search services provider Google and science magazine Scientific American have announced the launch of the third annual $50,000 Scientific American Science in Action award, powered by the Google Science Fair. The Scientific American Science in Action award honours a project that can make a practical difference by addressing an environmental, health or resources challenge.

RCN Publishing to preserve e-journal content with Portico

RCN Publishing, part of the Royal College of Nursing group, has signed an agreement with Portico to preserve its e-journal content. Through the agreement, institutions participating in Portico's E-Journal Preservation Service will be assured continued access to RCN Publishing title content for their nurses, students and academics for generations to come.

UKB consortium in the Netherlands and the National Library of the Netherlands sign new agreement to move library services to OCLC WorldShare

OCLC, the non-profit computer library service and research organisation, has announced that the UKB consortium of Dutch university libraries and the National Library of the Netherlands have signed a new agreement to move library services to OCLC WorldShare. The new agreement is an essential part of UKB's strategy for academic service provision, and recognises the importance of globalisation in the higher education sector.

Dr Alessandro Fiocchi named new Editor-in-Chief of World Allergy Organization Journal

The World Allergy Organization Journal has announced the appointment of Dr Alessandro Fiocchi, Director of Allergy at the Pediatric Hospital Bambino Gesù in Rome, Vatican City, as the new Editor-in-Chief of the journal. Also new for 2014, Dr Erika Jensen-Jarolim, who has served on the WAO Journal Editorial Board, is now filling the newly established role of Deputy Editor.

APEC to recognise 'intelligent transportation' innovator
