Over 600 public research and higher education institutions in France gain access to ScienceDirect Freedom Collection

STM publisher Elsevier and the Couperin Consortium have come to a new agreement that provides researchers at over 600 public research and higher education institutions in France access to the ScienceDirect Freedom Collection content for five years. ScienceDirect is Elsevier' full-text database of more than 2,200 peer-reviewed journals, 900 serials and 25,000 books.

The Max Planck Society secures access to 110,000 books from almost 170 years of publishing history for its researchers

STM publisher Springer has announced that the Max Planck Society has bought the entire Springer Book Archives (SBA) consisting of 110,000 individual titles. The purchase gives staff in 82 Max Planck institutes in Germany direct online access to the retro-digitised books via the SpringerLink platform (link.springer.com).

Wolters Kluwer Health and American Society for Dermatologic Surgery announce publishing agreement

Wolters Kluwer Health and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery have announced an agreement to publish the Society's official journal, Dermatologic Surgery, in print, online and digital formats effective with the June 2014 issue. The monthly journal is exclusively devoted to dermatologic surgery with comprehensive coverage on cutaneous laser surgery, soft-tissue fillers, skin resurfacing, hair transplantation, phlebology, liposuction and skin cancer surgery.

Taylor & Francis expands public access through Access to Research project

Access to Research, a pilot initiative to give free, walk-in access to a wide range of academic articles and research in public libraries across the UK, launched this month with the support of Taylor & Francis Group. Through this service, library users will have access to articles published in over 1,100 Taylor & Francis-owned journals covering everything from Accounting to Zoology, as well as content from 16 other leading publishers.
