Wiley to publish Bergey's Manual of Systematics of Archaea and Bacteria

Publisher John Wiley & Sons, Inc. has announced a new partnership with Bergey's Manual Trust, which will see Wiley publish Bergey's Manual of Systematics of Archaea and Bacteria (BMSAB) from 2014. Bergey's is recognised as the most complete and authoritative description of bacterial and archaeal diversity available, and this partnership will see the new third edition published electronically for the first time.

AAAS launches new title - Science Advances

The non-profit American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), publisher of the Science family of journals, plans an expansion of its scientific communication efforts with the launch of a new title, Science Advances, as an extended forum for high-quality, peer-reviewed research. Spanning science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and the social sciences, the new digital publication will be published online - on an open-access basis, with articles freely available to the public - through the payment, by authors, of an article processing fee.

Young scientists singled out for Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry Best Paper Award 2013

Springer journal Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry (ABC) has chosen Sherrie Elzey and De-Hao Tsai as the recipients of its Best Paper Award 2013. The award, accompanied by 1,500 euros, was created by Springer to honour exceptional young scientists and to stimulate their research careers. The ABC Best Paper Award has been given since 2005.

HighWire offers altmetrics integration to publications hosted on HighWire Open Platform

Stanford University's HighWire Press and Altmetric LLP have announced the completion of an agreement to offer altmetrics integration to publications hosted on the HighWire Open Platform. This new agreement will enable leading publications on HighWire to join publishers such as the National Academy of Sciences and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Press in displaying Altmetric data beside their research articles online.

Metadata from NEWTON Media now searchable in EBSCO Discovery Service

Library resources provider EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) has announced that metadata from NEWTON Media, a Media Monitoring provider in Central and Eastern Europe, will be searchable in EBSCO Discovery ServiceTM (EDS). NEWTON Media delivers the largest media news archive in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland and spans many different media sources including news digests of print, radio, television, internet and agency news and monitor current events, advertising, and social networks.
