Wiley, Kudos in deal to help authors maximise article impact

Publisher John Wiley & Sons, Inc. has announced a new partnership with Kudos, a start-up service designed to help academics and learned societies measure, monitor and maximise the visibility and impact of their published articles. From April 2014, the Kudos platform will be freely available across a representative trial of articles from the Global Research portfolio.

Thomson Reuters unveils 2014 Academic Reputation Survey

The Intellectual Property & Science business of Thomson Reuters has announced the launch of its 2014 Academic Reputation Survey. This is the fifth consecutive year of the survey, which is conducted to gain a clearer understanding of the global research landscape and to inform the renowned Times Higher Education World University Rankings. The survey will open on March 3 and run till the submission deadline on April 18.

International Journal of Surgery affiliated with New York Surgical Society

The New York Surgical Society (NYSS) has decided to affiliate with the International Journal of Surgery in an agreement that gives members of the Society easy access to the important research published by the journal and marks the growth in the journal's international reach. The journal launched in 2003 has seen rapid growth in recent years now with over 600 submissions a year globally and with full text article downloads in the hundreds of thousands each year.

NIH adds substantial set of genetic, health information to online database

Researchers will now have access to genetic data linked to medical information on a diverse group of over 78,000 people, enabling investigations into many diseases and conditions. The data, from one of the nation's largest and most diverse genomics projects - Genetic Epidemiology Research on Aging (GERA) - have just been made available to qualified researchers through the database of Genotypes and Phenotypes (dbGaP), an online genetics database of the National Institutes of Health.

Four Elsevier titles receive American Journal of Nursing Book of the Year Awards

STM publisher Elsevier has announced that four of its titles have been recognised in the American Journal of Nursing (AJN) Book of the Year Awards. In the critical care-emergency nursing category, Elsevier titles won two awards. In the information technology/informatics category, Health Informatics: An Interprofessional Approach, by Ramona Nelson and Nancy Staggers, earned a first place award. Finally, Mosby's Dictionary of Medicine, Nursing and Health Professions, edited by Marie T. O'Toole, 9th edition, earned a second place award in the medical-surgical nursing category.
