Techstreet expands energy, manufacturing and inspection standards content for the global engineering community

Industry codes and standards provider Techstreet has signed new agreements with standards publishers - Petroleum Equipment Institute (PEI), American Nuclear Society (ANS), National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors (NBBI), Aluminum Association and FM Approvals. The agreements expand Techstreet's extensive and easily accessible electronic collection of codes and standards for engineers and technical professionals worldwide.

Elsevier launches new OA journal - Water Resources and Industry

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the launch of a new open access journal Water Resources and Industry, published in association with the International Water Association (IWA). The first issue of the journal is themed, 'Water Footprint Assessment (WFA) for better water governance and sustainable development'. All articles are now available on ScienceDirect.

Council for Science and Technology calls on government to recognise learned societies key role in A-level reform

The Royal Society of Chemistry has announced its support for the call from the Council for Science and Technology that learned societies should mediate in the government's move to increase the influence of universities on science A-levels. In a public letter to education secretary Michael Gove, the Council welcomed intentions to transfer more control of the content and assessment of A-levels to universities, although recognised the plans for achieving this goal remain 'unclear'.

Thieme journal Planta Medica to celebrate 60th anniversary at the annual congress of GA

STM publisher Thieme has announced that its journal Planta Medica will celebrate its 60th anniversary at this year's International Congress and Annual Meeting of the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research (GA) in Münster from September 1-5. Being the official organ of GA, the journal first appeared in 1953, and since then Planta Medica has grown into one of the leading international journals in the field of medicinal plant and natural product research.

Library technology solutions provider Ex Libris Group recently signed an agreement with Data Planet to include its extensive collections of original datasets in the Primo Central Index. ISNI assignments top 6.5 million

More than 6.5 million assignments of the ISO-certified naming standard International Standard Name Identifier, known as "ISNI", are ensuring the right information gets connected with the right name. Published in early 2012, the standard applies a unique 16-digit code to public identities, providing a single identifier that can be leveraged across many applications, helping to sync alternate or disparate spellings of the same name, and eliminating confusion when names are alike.
