Springer ownership change completed

The closing of the sale of Springer Science+Business Media (Springer) by funds advised by EQT and GIC to funds advised by BC Partners, which was announced on 19 June 2013, has now been finalised. Competition authorities in the US and in Europe have approved the transaction and all other preconditions have been met.

EBSCO acquires British Education Index

Library resources provider EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) has announced the acquisition of the British Education Index (BEI) from the University of Leeds Library. A highly regarded education resource in the UK, the British Education Index will add to other educational offerings from EBSCO. These include Education Research Complete and Education Resource Information Center.

New SAGE report focuses on Library Value in the Developing World

Academic publisher SAGE recently released a report on Library Value in the Developing World. According to the report, raising awareness of how the library supports teaching and research staff is key to demonstrating librarian value in developing countries. The findings are the result of a six-month research study with 12 developing-country institutions.

Brill adds Climate Law journal to its publishing programme

Academic publisher Brill has announced the addition of the peer-reviewed journal Climate Law from IOS Press to its growing International Environmental Law portfolio. As of September 1, 2013, the title will be available via Brill's customary distribution channels. To ensure a smooth transition of the journal, the online version will continue to be hosted on the IOS Press platform until the end of 2013.
