Thomson Reuters unveils ScholarOne Journal Triathlon to honour top scholarly publications

The Intellectual Property & Science business of Thomson Reuters has announced a scholarly community e-program, the ScholarOne® Journal Triathlon, to celebrate and recognise the innovative accomplishments of research journals. The Triathlon begins September 9, 2013. The inaugural ScholarOne Journal Triathlon is a virtual tournament designed to have journals compete in three categories: agility, speed and endurance, attributes essential for successful publications.

Dr. Jillian M. Buriak named new Editor-in-Chief of Chemistry of Materials

The American Chemical Society (ACS) has announced that Dr. Jillian M. Buriak will assume the role of Editor-in-Chief of Chemistry of Materials in January 2014. Buriak, who currently serves as Associate Editor for ACS Nano, is Professor, Canada Research Chair in Inorganic and Nanoscale Materials, and Senior Research Officer of the National Institute for Nanotechnology at the University of Alberta, Canada.

Taiwan has most citations per paper in educational research, says research

Taiwan has produced the most-cited publications on educational research projects around the world during the past three years. A recently published research, conducted by Tseng Yuen-hsien, a research fellow and deputy head of National Taiwan Normal University's (NTNU's) Information Technology Center, shows that Taiwan led in the world in terms of the average number of times a research paper was cited by other scientific publications between 2010 and 2012.

Journal of Official Statistics moves content to Versita

Academic publisher Versita has announced that the Journal of Official Statistics, the flagship publication of Statistics Sweden, has moved to De Gruyter open access publishing platform. The national statistical office of Sweden, Statistics Sweden (SCB), is the Swedish government agency responsible for producing official statistics with regard to the country.

ARL publishes Digital Image Collections and Services, SPEC Kit 335

The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) has published Digital Image Collections and Services, SPEC Kit 335, which examines how research libraries and their parent institutions have responded to the transition from analog to digital images and the growth of digital images available from commercial vendors and/or created within institutions or their libraries. The survey gathers information about current practices relating to the development and management of institutional digital image collections and the acquisition and use of licensed image databases.
