CAS adds 2013 Inventory of Existing Chemical Substances in China to its CHEMLIST database

Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) has announced that the 2013 Inventory of Existing Chemical Substances in China (IECSC) has been added to its database containing international regulatory information for chemical substances, CHEMLIST. CHEMLIST claims to be the most accurate source of substance and regulatory information with validated CAS Registry Numbers and the world's most extensive collection of chemical names, consisting of systematic, trade and common names.

Elsevier and American Dairy Science Association announce winners of 3rd annual Journal of Dairy Science Most-Cited Awards

STM publisher Elsevier and the American Dairy Science Association (ADSA) have announced the winners of the third annual Journal of Dairy Science (JDS) Most-Cited Awards. Papers published in JDS throughout 2010 were eligible and citations from date of publication until April 15, 2013, were taken into consideration.

ACM and Code.org partner to expand K-12 computer science education

The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) has announced a partnership with Code.org, a non-profit dedicated to growing K-12 computer science education in America, to bring computing skills to elementary and high school students across the US. As part of this alliance, Cameron Wilson, ACM Director of Public Policy, was named Chief Operating Officer of Code.org on an interim basis.

ARL joins coalition in urging Congress to evaluate, reform NSA surveillance

The Association of Research Libraries (ARL), together with 59 other privacy and civil liberties groups, recently sent a letter to the US Senate Judiciary Committee, calling on Congress to evaluate the National Security Agency's (NSA) surveillance programs and risks to civil liberties. The coalition urged Congress to enact critical reforms to ensure that government surveillance programs include robust safeguards for constitutional rights.

Educational content, software and services company Cengage Learning, Inc. and MathJax have announced a partnership to improve the display of mathematical equations in Cengage Learning digital products. With MathJax, students are able to highlight and add inline notes to equations and formulas within MindTap.

CCC announces international copyright education partnership with CERLALC

Licensing solutions provider Copyright Clearance Center, Inc. (CCC) has announced an international copyright education partnership as part of its new OnCopyright global education portal with the Centro Regional para el Fomento del Libro en América Latina y el Caribe (CERLALC). CERLALC, an intergovernmental organisation based in Bogota, Colombia, promotes reading, publishing and copyright in the Latin America region.
