Reed Technology and Information Services launches USPTO public data dissemination site

Reed Technology and Information Services, part of the LexisNexis family, has announced the launch of Patents.ReedTech.com, a website that allows users free access to USPTO Patent and Trademark information. The bulk content sets available at the website will be the same as those provided in recent years by the USPTO through Google USPTO Bulk Downloads.

Royal Society of Chemistry journals continue to show Impact Factor growth

The Royal Society of Chemistry has announced that its publishing portfolio has once again shown outstanding excellence, with the publication of the latest Impact Factors (IF) report from Thomson Reuters. Six out of the top 20 multidisciplinary chemistry journals are published by the RSC.

SCOAP3 on track to meet target start date of January 1, 2014

The international Sponsoring Consortium for Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics (SCOAP3) partnership reaffirmed its commitment to SCOAP3 at a recent meeting in May. The initiative, with the full support of CERN, is now ready to move to its next step - signing contracts with publishers and establishing the consortium.

New IOP Student Science Publication Award to recognise student science writers

NISO announces new two-phase project to develop standards and recommended practices for altmetrics

The National Information Standards Organization (NISO) has announced a new two-phase project to study, propose, and develop community-based standards or recommended practices in the field of alternative metrics. Assessment of scholarship is a critical component of the research process, impacting everything from which projects get funded to who gains promotion and tenure to which publications gain prominence.
