Nature Publishing Group wins 3-year El Naschie libel trial

Nature has won a case brought against it by Mohamed El Naschie. In 2008, Nature published an article questioning the lack of peer review at Chaos, Solitons and Fractals, which at the time was edited by El Naschie. El Naschie sued Nature for damaging his reputation.

HathiTrust, Authors Guild file motions for summary judgment in digitisation suit

The parties in the Authors Guild vs HathiTrust case have filed motions for summary judgment. The Guild asserted it should win because the defendants had no viable defence for their mass-digitisation programme; the HathiTrust argued that it should win because its programme fell under fair use.

Human Genomics publishes first open access articles with BioMed Central

Open access publisher BioMed Central has announced that the journal Human Genomics has published its first open access articles. A peer-reviewed journal for geneticists engaged in biomedical and life science research analysing human genome data, the greater visibility afforded by open access is projected to help evolve and further establish the journal within the genomics field.

Thieme publishes new skull base atlas

STM publisher Thieme Publishing Group recently published the 'Lateral Skull Base Surgery: The House Clinic Atlas,' written by leading skull base surgeons from the House Clinic in Los Angeles, California. The atlas contains detailed descriptions of the techniques used in lateral skull base surgery.

Sheridan to develop multi-title full-text app for the Academy of Management

The Academy of Management has selected Dartmouth Journal Services and the Sheridan Technology Lab to develop a multi-journal app. Scheduled for release in mid-July, the app is branded as AOM Pubs. Journal titles accessible in this app include the Academy of Management Journal (AMJ), Academy of Management Review (AMR), Academy of Management Learning & Education (AMLE), and Academy of Management Perspectives (AMP).
