Thomson Reuters releases 2011 Journal Citation Reports

The Intellectual Property & Science division of Thomson Reuters has announced the release of the 2011 Journal Citation Reports (JCR). The JCR claims to be the world's most influential resource for information on highly cited, peer-reviewed publications and the source of annual Journal Impact Factors.

Wellcome Trust toughens OA policy

The Wellcome Trust has announced that it will be strengthening the manner in which it enforces its open access policy with immediate effect. Failure to comply with the policy could result in final grant payments being withheld and non-compliant publications being discounted when applying for further funding.

IOP Publishing and China National Knowledge Infrastructure in deal to create IOP Journal Metadata Database

Non-profit scientific publisher IOP Publishing has announced an agreement with the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) to create an IOP Journal Metadata Database. The new database will give researchers in China greater access to key journal content published by IOP and the company's partners.

NISO voting members elect new leadership for 2012-2013 term

The membership of the National Information Standards Organization (NISO) has elected new leadership for the 2012-2013 term that begins on July 1, 2012. Barbara Preece, Dean of the Library California State University, San Marcos, who previously served as Vice Chair, will now become Chair of NISO for the 2012-13 term.

'Perioperative Medicine' launches with new guidelines on fluid management in surgery

BioMed Central has launched a new journal titled Perioperative Medicine. In its introductory edition, the journal offers guidelines for fluid management during surgery. The consensus statement was agreed by the clinical leaders of the English Enhanced Recovery Partnership, set up by the UK Department of Health.
