Google appeals against class action status for Authors Guild lawsuit

Google has confirmed that its attorneys have filed a petition to appeal Judge Denny Chin's recent order granting the Authors Guild's motion for class certification in its ongoing litigation. The appeal process could delay the motions for summary judgment, due for June 26.

SAGE expands OA publishing portfolio

Academic and professional publisher SAGE has announced the launch of a further three broad-spectrum open access journals - SAGE Open Medicine, SAGE Open Medical Case Reports and SAGE Open Engineering. The journals will be open for submissions later in the summer of 2012.

UK govt. looking to open up access to publicly funded research
