Society for Scholarly Publishing seeks mentors and mentees for Fall 2019 Mentorship Program

The Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) is now accepting applications for the next cohort of its Mentorship Program. This program is ideal for professionals at all career levels to develop new relationships, share experiences, and learn from others outside their organisations by connecting with a mentor. As the Spring 2019 cohort comes to an end, the SSP Career Development Committee is seeking potential mentors and mentees to participate in the program for Fall 2019.

EBSCO Information Services and Arkivum partner to address archiving, digital preservation and long-term data management

The Optical Society launches OSA Reviewer Resource Center

The Optical Society (OSA) has announced the launch of the new OSA Reviewer Resource Center, a convenient and comprehensive portal offering reviewers the opportunity to become certified, find guidance and information about reviewing for OSA's journals, and be recognised and rewarded for the vital service they perform for the Society. Employing video, infographics, and text, the new Reviewer Certification Course outlines the objectives of peer review and explains best practices for writing a constructive and useful review.

KHCPL and OCLC announce new partnership

The Kokomo-Howard County Public Library has announced a new partnership with OCLC, a nonprofit library organisation that provides shared technologies and services to libraries worldwide. Under the deal, KHCPL will implement OCLC Wise, the first community engagement system for U.S. public libraries. The estimated rollout is the fall of 2020. Wise is an integrated system that uses data to support changes to the collection of materials KHCPL offers so they align with the community's needs.

AAP promotes Lui Simpson to Senior Vice President, Global Policy

The Association of American Publishers (AAP) has announced that Lui Simpson has been promoted to the position of Senior Vice President, Global Policy after serving previously as a policy vice-president. In her new role, Simpson will continue to drive AAP's work on a variety of borderless issues involving the intersection of intellectual property and technology policy, while taking on more of an overall leadership role within the organisation.
