2019 New Directions Seminar to explore 'the good, the bad, and the ugly' in scholarly publishing The Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) has announced the program for its 2019 New Directions Seminar, now in its third year. This year, SSP will explore ways publishers and industry leaders are creating new business models, new technologies, and new approaches to new challenges through keynote presentations, panel sessions, and roundtable discussions. The seminar will be held October 2-3 in Washington, DC, USA. Rialto is a comprehensive marketplace that enables libraries to acquire content from a variety of publishers and platforms. Emerald Publishing, Oxford University Press, SAGE Publishing, Taylor & Francis Group and The University of Chicago Press will work with ProQuest to shape the new product. The journal has published its first content less than two months since opening for submissions in June. Demonstrating the journal's broad, multidisciplinary scope covering all of physics and related fields of interest to the physics community, the first release of peer-reviewed research articles includes advances in the areas of materials science, quantum information, soft matter, plasma science, optics, and condensed matter physics. The Cochrane Effective Practice and Organisation of Care (EPOC) Group, as well as other Cochrane contributors, has a long-standing relationship with WHO and works closely with them on guideline development. The awards program, administered by Columbus Business First, recognises inclusive organisations and individuals in Central Ohio. The program highlights excellence in encouraging diversity in age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, race and religion at local workplaces.
