AAAS and Bio-protocol announce four-year collaboration to support scientific reproducibility

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the non-profit publisher of the Science family of journals, has announced a four-year collaboration with the publisher Bio-protocol, as part of its continued efforts to foster transparency and reproducibility in life science research. The launch of the agreement between AAAS and Bio-protocol comes amid a growing demand for sharing experimental materials and methods and aims to raise the standards for reproducibility by directly connecting researchers with high-quality, reliable and free access to protocols.

New ASTM International Standard supports asset-management career development

ASTM International's asset management committee (E53) has approved a new standard with guiding principles for creating an asset management career development program (soon to be published as E3140). According to committee members, the standard outlines the education, training, and experience needed to support the mission and objectives of an entity's asset-management operations.

WebMD acquires QxMD

Health information services provider WebMD Health Corp. has acquired QxMD, a Vancouver, BC-based learning technology company that delivers mobile decision point tools and personalised learning solutions for physicians and healthcare professionals (HCPs). QxMD will continue to operate as an independent subsidiary of WebMD Health Corp. Terms of the transaction were not made public.

Under this collaborative agreement, BioOne participating publishers can now refer authors seeking editorial services directly to the Charlesworth-BioOne English and Chinese language co-branded landing pages (www.cwauthors.com/BioOne) using a unique referral link.

McGraw-Hill's growing Inclusive Access program now reaches 660 campuses

McGraw-Hill is continuing to expand its array of initiatives focused on lowering the cost of course materials and improving outcomes for students. Since last year, the company has rapidly expanded its Inclusive Access program, which provides significant savings to students. Inclusive Access is a partnership between an education institution, bookstore, and publisher to deliver digital course materials to students on or before the first day of class at deeply discounted and affordable rates – up to 70 percent off the cost of print textbooks.
