Wolters Kluwer honoured with 32 awards from the American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors for editorial and design excellence

Wolters Kluwer, Health has announced that its Lippincott® journal portfolio has won 32 awards across 21 categories in the American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors (ASHPE) annual awards competition. ASHPE recognises member articles and publications for editorial, design, print and online award categories.

Western Sydney University extends its digital textbook program with ProQuest

Western Sydney University (WSU) has extended its partnership with ProQuest to offset one major piece of that cost – textbooks. Through WSU's digital textbook program, all 10,000 first-year students at the university's 10 teaching campuses located across the Western Sydney region in Australia will gain access to textbooks through Ebook Central, ProQuest's ebook platform.

ARL white paper on Wikidata brings to light use of open knowledge in scholarly communication, special collections

In a new Association of Research Libraries (ARL) white paper, a task force of expert Wikidata users recommend a variety of ways for librarians to use the open knowledge base in advancing global discovery of their collections, faculty, and institutions. The white paper, circulated for public comment in fall 2018, contains examples of Wikidata applications, screenshots, and recommendations for involvement on an individual or organisational level.

Academic publisher Emerald Publishing has partnered with the identity and access management specialists LibLynx in developing their new Emerald Insight digital research platform. Duke University Press announces Dean Smith as its next Director

Duke University Press has announced Dean Smith, the director of Cornell University Press, as its new director. Smith succeeds Steve Cohn, who is retiring at the end of June. Cohn has been at Duke University Press since 1984, and has served as director since 1993. Smith will start in his new position beginning July 1.
