Nature Research and Yakult launch new, multi-year competitive grant programme to support human microbiota research

A growing body of evidence has emerged in the last decade supporting the major role the human microbiota plays in health and disease. To encourage the development of this promising field, Nature Research and Yakult have launched a new, multi-year competitive grant programme for research into the human microbiota. The Global Grants for Gut Health will consider proposals for research projects - whether laboratory investigations or clinical studies - that advance understanding of the impact of the gut microbiota on human health.

NFAIS announces call for presentations for 2018-2019 Lunch & Learn education series

South Carolina PASCAL Consortium opts for Ex Libris Alma and Primo solutions

Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, has announced that the Partnership Among South Carolina Academic Libraries (PASCAL) has selected the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform and Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution to enhance collaboration, efficiency, and services for consortium members. Upon completion of the project, PASCAL members will replace multiple library systems, including Innovative Sierra and Millennium, SirsiDynix, and OCLC systems, with the Alma platform.

MDPI to help scholars publish OA at no cost, announces pilot project with the Technical University of Dresden and the Saxon State and University Library Dresden

Academic open-access publisher Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI) has announced a pilot project with the Technical University of Dresden (TUD) and the Saxon State and University Library Dresden (SLUB) to help scholars publish Open Access at no cost. The program will last for 6 months, from July 1 - December 31, 2018, and will allow corresponding authors affiliated with these institutions to publish their manuscripts free of charge in any MDPI journal.
