Elsevier and M*Modal collaborate to launch next-generation diagnostic decision support workflow

Elsevier, the global information analytics business specialising in science and health, and part of RELX Group, has entered into an agreement to offer its STATdx® online radiology diagnostic decision support tool through M*Modal Fluency for Imaging®, an advanced speech recognition and workflow management system, to deliver the next generation of diagnostic decision support. This combined solution is being demonstrated during the Association of Medical Imaging Management (AHRA) 2018 annual meeting in Orlando from July 22-25.

SAGE Publishing reports continued growth in 2018 Journal Citation Reports

Academic publisher SAGE Publishing has reported continued strong performance and growth across its journals portfolio in the 2018 Journal Citation Reports. In the 2018 reports, 12 SAGE journals were added, bringing the total number ranked to 597, a 28% increase over the past five years. In this year's reports, 67% of SAGE journals saw increased Impact Factors (IF), which is higher than the overall percentage of ranked titles seeing increases.

Andrew Allen appointed Editor-in-chief of IUCr Journals

The IUCr , a scientific union adhering to the International Council for Science (ICSU), has announced the appointment of Andrew Allen as the Editor-in-chief of IUCr Journals. Andrew is a long-time physicist working in materials science, neutron and X-ray scattering at the US Department of Commerce's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Gaithersburg, MD, USA. He will succeed Samar Hasnain, who has completed his six-year term at the helm, from mid-September 2018.

SPIE Journal of Medical Imaging announces public availability of CT lesion-image database

A paper published in the Journal of Medical Imaging has announced the open availability of the largest CT lesion-image database accessible to the public. Such data are the foundations for the training sets of machine-learning algorithms. Until now, large-scale annotated radiological image datasets, essential for the development of deep learning approaches, have not been publicly available.
