Emerald partners with F1000 to launch new open research publishing platform - Emerald Open Research

Academic publisher Emerald has become the first publisher to partner with the open research service provider F1000, starting Emerald's own open research publishing platform - Emerald Open Research - using the technology, infrastructure and editorial services provided by F1000. The publishing partnership with F1000 is a natural extension of the Emerald Reach open access programme launched in September 2017, which is designed to deliver rigorous high-quality open access content, support authors and extend their impact.

SAGE Publishing launches OA monograph program across the humanities and social sciences

Academic publisher SAGE Publishing has expanded its open access program to include monographs, scholarly works that present academic research on a single topic, in-depth. Titled SAGE Open Long Form: Open Access Monographs, the new program will include works that have undergone several layers of review and make them accessible to the broadest community of social, behavioural, and humanities scholars.

Oxford University Press to publish two journals of the American Ornithological Society

Academic publisher Oxford University Press and the American Ornithological Society have announced their new partnership to publish The Auk: Ornithological Advances and The Condor: Ornithological Applications, the society's two peer-reviewed, top-ranked, Journal Citation Reports indexed journals. The Auk and The Condor will serve as OUP's flagship titles in ornithology.

CRKN Board of Directors reject proposal to charge Francophone and bilingual CRKN member institutions a significantly higher price than Anglophone institutions for a full collection

Under the direction of its Content Strategy Committee (CSC) and with approval from its Board of Directors, the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) will not be renewing its national license with Cairn, an aggregator of Francophone publications in the social sciences and humanities. This decision comes after Cairn indicated it would not remove its language-based pricing policy where Francophone and bilingual CRKN member institutions are charged a significantly higher price for the full collection than Anglophone institutions.
