Declaration on Open Access in Greece

Building on the Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities and on the progress that has been achieved so far, OpenAIRE is pursuing the large-scale implementation of free online access to, and largely unrestricted use and re-use of scholarly research articles. OpenAIRE is an EC-funded initiative which aims to support the Open Access policy of the European Commission via a technical infrastructure.

NISO members announce leadership team for 2018-19

Members of the National Information Standards Organization (NISO) have announced their board's leadership for the 2018-2019 term, which will begin on July 1, 2018. Marian Hollingsworth, Director of Publisher Relations, Clarivate Analytics has been elected to serve as the incoming Vice Chair. She will transition into the role of Chair in the 2019-2020 term next July. Keith Webster, Dean of University Libraries at Carnegie Mellon University becomes Chair of NISO for the 2018-19 term, after serving as Vice Chair over the past twelve months.

ProQuest survey reveals how using varied content types improves learning

In March 2018, ProQuest surveyed more than 1,300 faculty and students around the globe to better understand the value they find in using various types of content. While peer-reviewed journals remain an essential resource, faculty and students are depending on a wide variety of content types including primary sources, dissertations, videos, and more for success in research and teaching. Responses reveal that access to varied content types generates better student research and learning outcomes.

University of Alabama partners with EBSCO Information Services as EBSCO FOLIO Beta Partner

The University of Alabama has agreed to be an EBSCO FOLIO Beta Partner. University librarians and developers and EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) will partner together to establish FOLIO hosting and services in The University of Alabama Libraries, while also optimising the FOLIO platform for future colleges and universities looking to adopt an open source library services platform (LSP). Beta Partners will be testing FOLIO in large, real-world environments, demonstrating the viability of the service and its role as an LSP.

Circulation: Cardiovascular Interventions names Sunil V. Rao as Editor-in-Chief

Circulation: Cardiovascular Interventions, an American Heart Association journal, has named Sunil V. Rao as the new editor-in-chief, effective July 1. Circulation: Cardiovascular Interventions focuses on interventional techniques pertaining to coronary artery disease, structural heart disease and vascular disease, with priority placed on original research and on randomised trials and large registry studies that advance clinical practice and patient outcomes.

Drexel University to join Ex Libris Esploro early adopter program

Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, has announced that Drexel University has opted to become an early adopter of the Ex Libris EsploroTM research services platform. The Esploro solution will broaden the impact of Drexel's research output and maximise the efficiency of managing research data and publications for global discovery and access through a campus-wide partnership led by the Libraries.

The Revs Institute uses OCLC WorldShare Management Services and CONTENTdm to drive research in automotive history

Non-profit global library cooperative OCLC has announced that The Revs Institute is now using OCLC's WorldShare Management Services as its library services platform and CONTENTdm to manage its digital collections and make them accessible on the web. WorldShare Management Services (WMS) provides all of the applications needed to manage a library, including acquisitions, circulation, resource sharing, metadata and license management, and a discovery service for library users.
