SPi Global, the market leading content technology and content solutions enterprise that provides data services and subject matter expertise (SME) to multiple industries, has completed the transaction for the acquisition of Scope e-Knowledge Center, a leading provider of specialised knowledge services for publishers and information providers. Scope is one of the five businesses under the Quatrro group of companies' umbrella, largely focused on services and fulfillment, leveraging platforms and technology in specified domains.

Altmetric to organise publisher workshop

Altmetric is organising an afternoon of talks and workshop sessions at Warwick Business School in London – on level 17 of The Shard. The event will feature a mixture of talks from publishers already making use of altmetrics, product updates, interactive workshops and a panel discussion on how publishers can play their part in responsible metrics.

Japanese Society of Nuclear Medicine to preserve OA e-journals with Portico

Digital preservation service Portico has announced that the Japanese Society of Nuclear Medicine (JSNM) will preserve their Open Access e-journals with Portico, ensuring that they will be secure and available into the future. The JSNM publishes Kaku Igaku and has a network of over 3,500 members, consisting of Physicians, chemists, technologists, and more to improve the flow of knowledge and information.

Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft signs up as sustainable funder

The Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) has announced that Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft has signed up to the growing list of organisations who have committed funds, via SCOSS, to support DOAJ on its way to a sustainable form of funding and future. DOAJ claims to be a valuable tool not only for researchers and libraries, but also for funders and infrastructure providers.
