Elsevier acquires Via Oncology, a clinical decision support solutions provider for oncology professionals

Elsevier, the information analytics business specializing in science and health, and part of RELX Group, has acquired Via Oncology, a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based company that provides decision support and best practices in cancer care management. A former subsidiary of UPMC, one of the nation's leading integrated healthcare delivery and financing systems, Via Oncology helps cancer centers demonstrate the value of their care to patients, referring physicians and payers by developing and implementing clinical pathways in collaboration with its network of more than 1,500 US cancer care providers.

SAGE Publishing acquires Data-Planet, expands data offering

Academic publisher SAGE Publishing has announced the purchase of Data-Planet, a statistical multidisciplinary data repository that has application in academic libraries, public libraries, government and commercial markets. Covering 16 major subject categories (including education, health and vital statistics, international relations and trade), it brings to SAGE 35 billion data points from over 450 databases sourced from 70 public and private organisations.

Endocrine Society names Dr. Daniel J. Drucker as Editor-in-Chief of Endocrine Reviews

Noted diabetes expert Dr. Daniel J. Drucker has been named Editor-in-Chief of Endocrine Reviews, a peer-reviewed journal published by the Endocrine Society. Drucker's term as Editor-in-Chief will begin July 1, 2018. Drucker is Professor of Medicine and the Banting and Best Diabetes Centre-Novo Nordisk Chair in Incretin Biology at the University of Toronto and is a Senior Scientist at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute, Mt. Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The University of the Andes (Colombia) unveils trilingual OA journal site on Atypon's Literatum online publishing platform

The Universidad de los Andes (University of the Andes) in Colombia, a private research institution and one of the top universities in South America, has launched a new site for all of its journals on Literatum, Atypon's online publishing platform. The trilingual site offers researchers content in Spanish, Portuguese, and English, with interfaces available in Spanish and English. The Literatum platform natively supports content in any language.

Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology names Dr. Dirk Elston as new editor

Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Dirk M. Elston, has been named the next editor of the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Elston, the journal's current deputy editor, will step into his new role in July 2018, succeeding board-certified dermatologist Dr. Bruce H. Thiers, who has served as editor for the past 10 years.

Edanz partners with Aries Systems to adopt Editorial Manager Ingest Service for its Author Path product

Author services company Edanz has announced a partnership with Aries Systems to adopt the Editorial Manager Ingest Service for its Author Path product. The Edanz Author Path was launched in beta last April in both English and Chinese. This partnership means authors using the Author Path, will be able to submit files and metadata associated with their manuscripts to the thousands of journals using Editorial Manager with a single click.

Inera Inc. launches eXtyles STS, a Word-to-XML solution for standards publishers

Inera Inc., a provider of editorial and XML software for scholarly and technical publishers, has announced the release of eXtyles STS, the newest member of the widely-used eXtyles product family. eXtyles STS supports NISO's latest standard, NISO STS, officially known as ANSI/NISO Z39.102-2017. Inera's eXtyles STS solution allows standards publishers to adopt this new 'standard for standards' while allowing their committees to continue drafting documents in Microsoft Word.
